ABOUT FRED KEEL
During the coronavirus pandemic of 2020, several Americans were out of work, including artist Fred Keel. He pursued a career in graphic design, animation, and filmaking over the course of 15 years, but his main passion is drawing. It seemed logical during the pandemic to do something he was most passionate about: to create his own comic book. However, due to the current circumstances, the only way for this to work is to do everything entirely himself, including writing the script, plot, pencil, ink, letter, and add color.
Although this was not the most ideal, it worked! Fred was able to bring to life his first comic book, "Queen Cobra," which combined elements of the supernatural, Greek and Roman mythology, and Judeo-Christian themes, all within the superhero genre. Fred was able to expand Queen Cobra into 4 issues, all of which are officially published. Recently, he developed an origin story comic (Issue #0) which is also published, with a 5th issue still in development.
The pages to issue #1 led to a collaboration between Chris Hays and McLain McGuire (The Forgotten Isle, Don't Pay The Ferryman) on a one-shot comic book called "Fields of Fear" which was published in late 2020 through Charter Comics.
Be on the lookout as 2022 shapes to be a defining year for Ocean Rising Comics.
